This season, bright colors like orange, red, yellow, purple and
turquoise are going to be used more than ever. Not only in clothing,
make up too. The lip in this beauty shot was meant to be bold, textured
and bright - giving it that pop! This season, bold patterns and blending
of colors from dark to light, light to dark and blending multiple colors
together will be used as well. Not only is it exciting to look at, its
eye-catching and makes a statement as well!
For the lip, I used a light yellow-toned concealer on the entire lip, so
that the colors of the pigments showed up brighter. I then used two
pigment eyeshadow pastes by Make Up Forever. Red and yellow. I used red
lip liner, then red lipstick on the outside, applied with a lip color
brush, followed by yellow on the inside with a larger brush. I used less
yellow on the top than the bottom, making the yellow pop more. Then
blended the two slightly with the larger brush. I did not use any type
of gloss, as the gloss would make the lip look runny and wet, instead of
blended with texture. I wanted texture, I came up with the idea for the
lip after I saw a photo of a hibiscus flower!
As for the eyes, I did nothing on the top lid because of the bangs
covering them. I didn't want to draw too much attention to the eyes
either, the lips were the main focus. I used a pair of lashes (both
meant for the top of the eyelid) and flipped them around, upside down,
with the ends of the lashes pointing inward. It accented the natural
framing the bang provided and made it a little more fun to look at!
I used "Pleasureful" BlushCreme by MAC to high light the cheek bones.
With darker skin, creme based blushes seem to work better than powders,
especially when photographed close-up.
Try blending colors on eyelids, lips, and wherever else necessary to
give yourself an attention-drawing summer look!
